Service Description

The Maple Bottom Farm "Fostering Feathers" program is a fun learning experience for the entire family. Your family will receive a tour of our farm, light refreshments, and hands on instructions about how to care for your chicks. We provide everything that you need to raise your chicks for 2 weeks: chicks, a brooder box, a safe heat source, bedding and feed. Farmers tend and take care of their animals daily. With our Fostering Feathers program you have the opportunity to become a real "Chicken Tender" at your own home. When our son Lee was 5 he announced, "I want my own job." He started with four hens to begin his own chicken business. Today at the age of 13, he owns more than 50 hens, raises approximately 100 meat birds each year, has his own business checking account and Facebook page! Lee will help show your children how to handle and care for their birds. 100% of the profits of this event will go to Lee! If you would like to reserve additional chicks, please be sure to tell us to reserve more for $15 each (limited quantities available) - We want to make sure that everyone in the family has the opportunity to care for the fluffy chicks. "Chick Pickup" is May 6 at 1:00 at Maple Bottom Farm. Your orientation and farm tour will last approximately 3 hours. Wear walking shoes and appropriate clothing to be on a working farm. In addition to learning we will also play games and have a snack. After Fostering Feathers for 3 weeks, it will be time to empty your nest. Simply return your chickens and all equipment in working order on May 27 at 9:00 AM. However If you have decided that fostering is an Egg-cellent Experience and you would like to fully adopt your chickens and become a full time chicken tender, just let us know and the chicks are yours to keep for an additional fee!
